Natalie came into the student lounge, exausted but not ready for bed. It was still quiet early, she had just come back from dinner. She mindlessly dropped her book bag on the floor and walked over to one of the couches. To tired for more homework, but most of it was done anyway. She had done her Transfiguration essay durring History of Magic, and practices her Charm spells durring free period. Done the Potions essay durring lunch, and that only left Defence Agaist the Dark Arts Essay, which she could do later. She stopped, remembering the Arithmacy test that was just around the corner. Sighing, she shrugged it off. Making a mental note to study, that she knew she would never remember.
Lying down on one of the couches her brain started running a mile a second. Thoughts about everyone, and everything appeared only to leave as fast as they had come. With a smile on her face she rose again, for some reason having a bit more energy then when she had lyed down. She walked over to the window, and opened it carefully.
Leaning on hip on the windowsil she could see the moon. She hoisened herself up to the ledge, but this time kept her legs inside. She was so out of it, she didn't want to risk falling. She was staring at the moon so intently she wouldn't have heard the door open, nor would she have registered anyone in the room.

Upon entering the lounge, Lafayette would've thought it was empty; he didn't hear a sound. A second glance, however, told him that there was one other person in the room. A girl, one, maybe two years younger than him, was staring out the window. She either hadn't heard him enter, or chose to ignore him, because she made no movement as he crossed the room.
After setting his bag quietly on the floor, Lafayette walked over to the window. He stood so that he was behind her, but not too close. "You know," he said, "I hear daydreaming leads to all sorts of horrible things."

Natalie watched the moon steadily grow lighter, or perhaps just the surronding sky get darker. Either way is made her totaly oblivious to what was going on in the room. Then she heard a boy's voice and turned around. Rolling her eyes she Say Lafayette Lecount. Someone known by both names, not just by first like Natalie. Nor called by last, like her childhood friend Drew Maxwell. Everyone had called him 'Maxwell.'
She didn't know this boy very well but knew enough. He was a 7th year, Slytherin, and didn't have a lot of friends. He was in a few of her classes and she saw him around the halls. The only reason she didn't hate him, or label him an enemy was because she hated having them. Although she never passed up a chance for teasing.
"I hear daydreaming leads to all sorts of horrible things."
Turning herself around completly she looked him in the eye.
"What do you know! You're actually right. It lead me to you."
Grinning Slyly she pushed herself up a bit so she was comfortably resting on the closed window.

Lafayette grinned. Actually, it was more of a smirk; Lafayette was incabable of grinning. "Actually, luv, I think your daydreaming led me to you."
He took a seat on the windowsill next to her. It wasn't large, so the two were sitting rather close. "So tell me, what's so interesting about sitting here and staring out the window?" he asked. His voice sounded interested, but his eyes showed that he could care less.

"Actually, luv, I think your daydreaming led me to you."Natalie tried not to laugh at this. She would never admit it, but this boy had the best comebacks. She managed to stay quiet and went by with just a roll of her eyes. She was rather suprised when he sat down next to her, and even more suprised when he spoke next. "So tell me, what's so interesting about sitting here and staring out the window?"[/img] He sounded like he really cared, but one look and you thought he would rather be on the moon. She didn't care which it was. She turned and faced the window again her smile true and her brown eyes sparkeling. "I have always loved the night sky, and it is even better with a moon." Only very few people knew about her obsession with the moon. It was because of this that she had broken so many rules. Her monthly trips to the forest (if not more then that) were so she could be in the night air, and see the moon from on top of a tree. The only reason she didn't get caught was because her father had been just as sneeky. She didn't know why she was telling Lafayette this. damn that moon!

Lafayette said nothing for a few monents. Truth be told, he could care less about the stars, the moon, the sun, or anything else up there. Finally, he spoke.
"I don't get it. It's just the moon. I mean, it's not that interesting to look at. What's so great about it?"

Natalie smiled a bit and turned to him. She really didn't know how to explain it, she had loved the moon for so long. Turning back to the window she to was silent for a while. Then she turned again.
"For me the moon has always been there watching over me, no matter what happened durring the day. I could retreat to my room, and then after everyone was asleep climb onto the roof. I could escape and just completly zone out. The sun isn't like that though. It always displays anger, or jubilation. Good sometimes, but it has never been like the moon for me." She paused for a second and reached her hand up to her neck. She seriously was going to regreat telling all of this to him. Pulling the chain a bit she unlatched it and held it in her hand. "My mother gave this to me the day i was born. For some reason she had always liked the moon to."

"Sounds like alot to ask out of a moon," Lafayette told her, looking at the chain. He then looked up at the moon once more. "Whatever floats your boat, I guess," Lafayette told her. He didn't understand Natalie's fascination with the moon, and probably never would, so he decided to change the subject.
"So what else do you do, besides stare at the moon?" he asked.

Natalie just smiled and listened. She knew he wouldn't understand. Almost no one did. She was suprised he wasn't actually insulting her. But she decided to let it go, and take advantage of it.
"Read, Explore the Castle, wander the forest, Sneek out to Hogsmeed or Hogshead, just walk the grounds, practice quidich, and study. I do whatever really."

"So basically, all the things that I hate doing," he told her. "Well, with the exception of being wherever it is I'm not supposed to be."
Glancing outside, he saw that the moon had shifted slightly. "It moved," he noted. It was just a staement intended to get Natalie talking again. It didn't mean that he was starting to get all emotional or anything.

Natalie rolled her eyes, but smiled. As much as she disliked this boy, he was funny. But she knew there was a difference between having a good friend, and having someone she liked to talk to. At his next comment she had to force herself not to laugh. Instead she tried a smirk. "Great Observation Sherlock!" She said rolling her eyes in merth. So maybe this boy wasn't the brightest. or perhaps he just wanted to start conversation. "Soon it will get to the middle, and highest point. That is when it is the best to see. Especially if you're in the forest. There is this amazing tree, not that far in that you can climb and see the moon from. Actually you can see the entire grounds. It's amazing." Her last sentence became so quiet you could barely heard it, but he probably did anyway.
