Full Name: Ashton "Ash" Ember Marie Larks
'Ashton' means 'ash tree settlement'...although we aren't quite sure why that fits her, the name's quite pretty! But she prefers the nickname 'Ash', thank you very much.
'Ember' means 'spark, burning low', which does describe Ash's fiery personality.
'Marie' means 'bitter sea', which partially relates to Ash. She can be quite a bitter girl when she wants to.
'Larks' is derived from the lark bird, and Ash does love to sing! Her beautiful voice is often compared to her last name.
Age: 16
Sex: female
Year: 6th
Bloodline: pureblooded
Parentage: Jack and Elaina Larks (Carson)
Houses in order of Preference:
Ravenclaw!
Slytherin
Gryffindor
Hufflepuff
Wand: 11 1/2 inches, ashwood, veela hair core
Pet: a small, tawny owl named Ember.
Personality: Ash is a witty, sarcastic girl. Though outgoing, funny, and at times hyper, she often uses dry comebacks and somewhat catty remarks when insulted or challenged. She's smart, but Ash doesn't 'waste her time' on books as much as other Ravenclaws, simply because she doesn't feel the need to. She'll do well anyway, and if she doesn't, who cares?
Her overly competitve nature is not to be tested - when given a task, this little fireball sets out with such force, agression and determination that it's a bit frightening. Ash destroys anything - or anyone - that gets in her way.
Her stubbornness contributes to her determination. When Ash decides she wants or needs to do something, consider it done, because she won't stop until it is.
Her sarcastic, witty sense of humor somewhat clashes with her fiery spirit. Ash is known for her undeniable spunk and partially rebellious attitude.
She can be a total snob, and does tend to look down on Hufflepuffs. She can be a downright stuck-up bitch when she wants to be, and isn't afraid to admit it. Ash is a completely in-your-face person, and will tell you the complete truth, even if it hurts you. She hates liars and dishonest people. Why waste time saying something that's not true?
In short, Ashton Larks has an extremely mixed personality.
Appearance: Ashton is a very pretty girl. She's what she likes to call 'vertically challenged', standing at a mere 5'3. But Ash carries herself like she's 6 feet tall, and always holds her head up high. She's slim, and extremely fit due to her quidditch playing.
She has a pretty, oval-shaped face and smooth, lightly tanned skin that never seems to blemish, with the exception of a light sprinkling of freckles across the thin bridge of her nose.
Ash has small, delicate features. Except her eyes - they're large, and a piercing blue-green in colour, framed by long, dark lashes and sand-coloured eyebrows. She has cherry red lips, which usually seem to be etched in a smile, cheeky grin, or playful smirk.
Ash has long, straight, dirty blonde hair thats colour resembles that of sand. Her hair is layered, and she normally keeps it up in a ponytail, with pieces framing her face. But occasionally, Ash will curl her hair or let it hang straight down.
She's far more likely to be spotted in muggle clothing than her Hogwarts uniform, which she often gets in trouble for. Ash's style is somewhat ecclectic, though she does favour jeans and vintage tops. Her style is overall a mix between trendy, preppy and rocker.
History: Ashton Ember Marie Larks was born to Jack and Elaina Larks on July 18th near Dublin, Ireland. It was a rare, sunny Irish day, and the parents welcomed their first daughter into the Larks family, which already consisted of themselves and their other child, Sean Adrian Larks - a boy, two years older than Ashton.
The girl was quite a peculiar young child. She had few friends, and the only person she seemed to trust completely was Sean. But that didn't stop Ashton Marie Ember Larks.
Ash, as she preferred to be called even at a young age, came from a highly-respected, extremely wealthy pureblooded wizarding family. The Larks spoiled their daughter from day one - she got whatever she wanted, rarely hearing the word 'no'. It was practically nonexistent in her vocabulary.
As expected, Ash showed signs of having magical abilities at a very young age - in fact, even before her older brother. When Ash got REALLY mad (and you had to watch out for her short temper!), things...happened. Her somewhat oblivious parents couldn't have possibly been any more proud of their daughter, whom they seemed to favour. Luckily, this caused no sibling rivalry - Sean and Ash were closer than practically all other siblings, and were the best of friends. They knew they could trust each other.
When Ash was 9, Sean was accepted to Hogwarts and was Sorted into Ravenclaw. SHE, however, was sent to a boarding school in Scotland. She was fully against this and behaved quite like the little princess she was - kicking and screaming all the way there.
At the school, Ash was miserable. It was a muggle school, and she absolutely DESPISED doing things 'the hard way', without any magical assistance whatsoever. She had to keep that part of her life a complete secret, which caused the other children to be a bit wary and suspicious of 'the new Irish girl'. She made no friends, and was teased constantly, being called nicknames such as 'the weird blonde brat', ' the Ice Princess', 'Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde' (for her split personality - damn those muggle stories!), among others. And those were the more polite ones.
Finally, at age 11, Ash left the 'Scottish Institution of Insanity' (as she called it) for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which she immediatley adored as much as her home of Dublin.
The Sorting Hat had quite a time with Ash because of her mixed personality, but ended up placing her in Ravenclaw with Sean, whom she'd missed terribly.
Ash's days at Hogwarts were somewhat average. She loved quidditch, and was an excellent Beater - Ash channelled all her rage and fury into the sport, giving her team quite an advantage with arm and aim.
She also became as well-known (and hated by the cranky caretaker, Filch) as the Weasley twins for her countless pranks and detentions. She became very popular, and enjoyed her highly contrasting [with her past] life.
But every rose has its thorns, and Ash still isn't satisfied with her life. Being the dramatic girl she is, she tires of the world and deals with it by cutting herself sometimes...but who knows what could happen to Miss Ashton Larks?
Sample Post: Ashton Weasley sat by the lake, sighing. Her long, dirty blonde hair was pulled up into a ponytail, with pieces falling prettily around her face. Her large, sky blue eyes gazed across the lake, and her beautiful face held the expression of someone who was very bored.
Ash, as she was more commonly known as, sighed again. She rolled up her faded jeans, smiling slightly. Ash often wore muggle clothes - she found them more comfortable and better-looking than those of the wizarding variety. When her jeans looked more like capris, she dipped her legs into the cool water, kicking gently.
It was a beautiful, sunny day - but alas, Ash preferred the rain. There was more to do, and she liked the sounds the rain made, and the wetness that would moisten her soft, pale skin during a good shower. Ash tilted her head to the side as she continued kicking, staring at the lake, and thinking.
