Slowly moving, Faith shoes click-clacked against the stone steps that seemed nearly endless. The West Tower was one of the tallest of all the school towers, and she had to make her way all the way to the top where the Owlery was. It was cooler than usual for a August morning, but she guessed that would've been obvious as fall was slowly approaching. Grinning at the thought, Faith glanced out the few windows to her left as she climbed. Everything was still green and slightly dewy. She wasn't a fan of summer. She loved the years best when you would walk across lawns and the grass would crunch under your feet, or when all the leaves fell in rays of gold and orange. It was always beautiful in fall, no matter if it was cold or still warm.
Letting out a small sigh, Faith looked at the envelope in her hand. It was yellow stained with black ink writing across it, just like in the olden days. Only glancing at the black, curly writing, it read;
Emily McKillen
De point Du Lac
Chantilly, France
And after followed an assortment of numbers for the post code.
Finally reaching the doors of the owlery, Faith slowly put her thumb down on the latch door and pushed it forward. She timidly stepped inside and looked around. The place was honestly maniacally. There was owl merde everywhere aswell as an assortments of voles, rats, mice, and even small rabbits skeleton's scattered on the ground. Faith hated coming up here as it was quite literally disgusting in her mind. Stepping forward slowly, Faith laid pressure on her heel, then leaned onto the outside oh her foot and ended with going onto her tip-toes as she crept through the room. She hated it when all the birds started to squawk and went crazy with feather flapping, so she figured she'd do this as slowly, and quietly as possible.
Once reaching the window, Faith delicately placed her elbows on the sill while still watching out for any droppings. Not bother to even look at the beautiful view below her, she continued to study the yellow-stained envelope.
Faith
All through reading, Faith could picture her mother as though she was talking right in front of her. She knew her exact physical appearance and was positive that she could give a full description of him while having someone draw his exact look. Her white, smooth face that was seemingly inanimate as a statue until you reached her eyes. They were a piercing, emerald green that were seen just as equally vibrant from across the room as they were when you were an inch away from him. With a slim body, she stood at five foot eleven with dark brown hair that only just rested on her shoulders.
Faith caught herself in her thoughts only as she let out a sigh. Inhaling a deep breath, she shook her head with a small laugh and slowly stowed the letter back into it's original package, tied it to the owl's foot and watched it disapeer.
