The Ministeress of Magic, Alicia Potter stood at the gates of Hogwarts School. Her old school. She smiled at all the memories as she waited for Katie to arrive. She had come to call on her best friend during her day off. She loved her job but it was alwys great to get away. Also it gave her a chance to see how her kids were getting along. She had hardly had chance to see them since she'd won her new job. She hoped they didn't fell rejected. She rested her back against one of the stone walls as she waited. Her mind ticking casually over all the good things in her life...

A beautiful woman with long blonde hair and large, piercing, blue-green eyes half-walked, half-ran to the front gates of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Katie Weasley smiled to herself. Some things had changed, but others had stayed the same – she was still always late!
Katie went to greet her friend, Alicia Potter – the Ministress of Magic. She knew Alicia would be a hell of a lot better than that stupid, bumbling Fudge that had been Minister in her day. Why, if she had the chance to talk to him now, a few things would be set straight…
But of course Katie didn’t want to put her new job in jeopardy! She had just been asked to come back to school to teach Charms and be the Head of her old house, Gryffindor. Katie, who had for the past years spent her time alone at home while her husband worked at his joke shop, eagerly accepted. She couldn’t lose her job because of some unsettled differences, could she?
Katie grinned when she saw her best friend, Alicia, waiting by the door. “Hello!” she greeted her, a bit out of breath. “Sorry I’m late again…you know me, I never seem to be on time!” Katie said with a laugh.

“Sorry I’m late again…you know me, I never seem to be on time!”
Alicia jumped as she heard the voice of her best friend apologising to her. She had been too lost in thought. She smiled to Katie and looked her up and down. "You look good girl." She joked making herself sound like she was seventeen again. She gave Katie a hug. "I've missed you." She admitted with a laugh. "I was lost without my best mate."
"So how's your life going?" She asked politely as she let Katie go finally and sat down on one of the stone benches that ran along the stone wall. She patted the space next to her welcomingly.

"You look good girl."
Katie laughed. “Not so bad yourself, Miss Thang,” she said, grinning. It was funny to remember how they’d talked when they were teenagers…how long ago that had been…
"I've missed you. I was lost without my best mate."
Katie returned the hug, smiling. “I’ve missed you too! And I certainly hope you haven’t been too lost, miss Mistress of Magic,” she said with a mischievous grin. “Congratulations! I’m 100% positive you’ll beat the pants of Fudge and Scrimegeour.” Katie knew she sounded like a teenager, and she didn’t seem to care. She was with her best mate again, someone who could care less if she sounded like Darth Vader, or whoever.
"So how's your life going?"
She obligingly took the seat next to Alicia, grinning. “Fine, fine! I was getting a bit bored staying at home while George was at work, though. I’m glad they hired me. Even if my children aren’t,” Katie admitted, laughing. “And you? How’s everything? Harry, the kids, your job?”

“Not so bad yourself, Miss Thang,”
Alicia smirked and struck a poze. "Aren't I just?" She said with a cheerful life. She loved acting like a kid. But she only did it around Katie.
"I’ve missed you too! And I certainly hope you haven’t been too lost, miss Mistress of Magic. Congratulations! I’m 100% positive you’ll beat the pants of Fudge and Scrimegeour.”
Alicia smiled and nodded. "Of course I will. I mean everyone knows woman are smarter than men. So obviously I will be superior. But I can't say I wasn't shocked when I found out. I thought I'd never get out of that dead end job in the Department on Mysteries." She smiled.
“Fine, fine! I was getting a bit bored staying at home while George was at work, though. I’m glad they hired me. Even if my children aren’t,”
"Well my children aren't pleased that I am the most powerful woman in the wizarding world but I don't care. I'm doing what I love and they all have to learn to live with that." She smirked.
“And you? How’s everything? Harry, the kids, your job?”
"I'm so happy Katie. I've got everything I ever wanted and more. Harry's fine I think I may pop in on him while I'm here." She said the last bit thoughtfully as if the thought had only just occured to her. "The kids are all right I think. Though I haven't really seen them much lately. My job keeps getting in the way. There's so much to do around the Ministry at the moment." She admitted.

"Aren't I just?"
“Well now, no need to get a big head,” Katie teased her friend mischievously, laughing. “Only kidding. Of course. Do we Weasleys do anything else?” she said, smiling. It was true, the Weasleys were known for being funny, crazy, and not always taking things seriously.
"Of course I will. I mean everyone knows women are smarter than men. So obviously I will be superior. But I can't say I wasn't shocked when I found out. I thought I'd never get out of that dead end job in the Department on Mysteries."
“Too true, Alicia, too true,” Katie said in an amused voice. “And a dead end job? They’d never give you a dead end job.” She laughed.
"Well my children aren't pleased that I am the most powerful woman in the wizarding world but I don't care. I'm doing what I love and they all have to learn to live with that."
“Children are never proud of their parents. It’s a bit sad. Well, mine are proud of George and their uncle because of the shop. But who wouldn’t?” she said, laughing. “They’ll be proud of us some day, Alicia.”
"I'm so happy Katie. I've got everything I ever wanted and more. Harry's fine I think I may pop in on him while I'm here."
“You should! I’m sure he’d be pleased. I’m still deciding what to do about staying at the castle. I think I might take the path to Hogsmeade at night or on the weekends and apparate home. Still working on that plan,” she replied shrugging.
"The kids are all right I think. Though I haven't really seen them much lately. My job keeps getting in the way. There's so much to do around the Ministry at the moment."
Katie nodded understandingly. “You should be happy! I'm so proud of you for being Mistress! And yeh, I’m glad I can keep an eye on my children while I’m here. They’re in my house, mind you, so they won’t be able to get away with anything…well, most things. I might have to let them off for pranks,” Katie said, laughing. There was a detectible glint of mischief in her eyes – back when she was at Hogwarts, Katie had helped Fred and George with so many pranks, she was a bit surprised she wasn’t expelled.

“Only kidding. Of course. Do we Weasleys do anything else?”
"True, true." She nodded with a slight smirk. She could be completely free around Katie. They'd been best friends since she was in her first year.
“And a dead end job? They’d never give you a dead end job.”
"They did. I was just stuck pushing through papers in the Department of Mysteries." She sighed with a small laugh as she thought of the job she had finally escaped.
“Children are never proud of their parents. It’s a bit sad. Well, mine are proud of George and their uncle because of the shop. But who wouldn’t?”
"I sure wouldn't have minded my parents owning a joke shop while I was at school. Think of all the free pranks and gags your kids are getting." She smiled. She was still young at heart when it came to pulling pranks and always would be.
“They’ll be proud of us some day, Alicia.”
"Of course they will be. I mean your probably one of the best teachers the school has." She said simply. She had heard through the ministry grape vine how good a teacher Katie was and how much some of her students liked her.
"You should! I’m sure he’d be pleased. I’m still deciding what to do about staying at the castle. I think I might take the path to Hogsmeade at night or on the weekends and apparate home. Still working on that plan,”
"Yeah well I just have to keep taking portkeys and apparating all over the place. This is the one day off I get a week. I'm going to go and see the kids at one point today. Just so I can check they're all all right and none of them have killed each other." She joked but she did worry about her children. Especially Sirius, he seemed to have fallen in with a bad lot.
“You should be happy! I'm so proud of you for being Mistress! And yeh, I’m glad I can keep an eye on my children while I’m here. They’re in my house, mind you, so they won’t be able to get away with anything…well, most things. I might have to let them off for pranks,”
"It would be a bit hypocritical if you didn't." She laughed remembering all the pranks she and Katie had aided in. She smiled as a few of the bigger ones flowed freely through her thoughts.

"True, true."
Katie laughed. “At least we have a good time living our lives,” she mused, smiling.
"They did. I was just stuck pushing through papers in the Department of Mysteries."
“I can only imagine how much fun that must have been,” Katie said, grinning. “Bet it was a hard decision to accept your new job, huh?” she joked.
"I sure wouldn't have minded my parents owning a joke shop while I was at school. Think of all the free pranks and gags your kids are getting."
“Are you kidding? I would have loved it…no wonder they love George so much.” Katie laughed – her daughter, who was probably the calmest in her family, often told her parents that they were worse than she was. It was probably true.
"Of course they will be. I mean you’re probably one of the best teachers the school has."
Katie smiled. “Thanks. But those Malfoy kids are just as bad as Pansy and Draco,” she said with a sigh, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. “It’s hard to keep my temper with them torturing me every day.”
"Yeah well I just have to keep taking portkeys and apparating all over the place. This is the one day off I get a week.
“Portkeys aren’t so bad. Sometimes I take them, but usually I walk to Hogsmeade and apparate. I wouldn’t want to leave George alone at the house…imagine all the damage he could cause in a week,” Katie said with a smirk and laugh. “Besides, I would miss his humor. I’ve found out just how much teachers need it.” Katie remembered giving her teachers a hard time, being the mischievous girl that always seemed to get into trouble. Snape had hated her; but the rest of the teachers had simply laughed and told Katie that she was ‘quite a character’, or had a ‘fiery spirit’, or whatever. She hadn’t minded – it was better than being boring, right?
“I'm going to go and see the kids at one point today. Just so I can check they're all all right and none of them have killed each other."
Katie laughed. “I don’t think they will. You have good kids; they wouldn’t kill each other. The twins, though, I don’t know…they just better be able to come back for their second year,” she said, rolling her eyes. Katie’s twins were first years, and just as bad as their father and uncle had been. “I don’t want them expelled.”
"It would be a bit hypocritical if you didn't."
“A bit? Try very. They would be on my back for ages!” Katie replied, laughing. She, Alicia, George, Fred, and Angelina had been the best pranksters the school had yet seen. They got into so much trouble; and far too many detentions to count. But they’d had fun at school, every step of the way. Life was better interesting and wild than safe and boring!
