What would happen if there was a major crack in time? Would it spell disaster? Would the world fall apart? The only answer I can give to all these questions is you’d have to find out. Too bad that’s what the students of Hogwarts got to do.
For one day in mid September. A few weeks after Harry Potter and all his friends returned to school to finish their time before heading on the horcrux hunt. Little did they know that this was one decision they would later regret or celebrate.
***** Present Day *****
The sun was shining over the lake, glinting off its surface as Gabrielle Delacour sat staring into its murky depths. She remembered the one time she had been caught in those depths. Harry Potter had been her saviour and she was eternally grateful. Gabrielle was at Hogwarts because Beauxbatons wasn’t open any longer due to the ever-present threat of Lord Voldemort. She closed her crystal blue orbs for a moment but they snapped open once more as she heard a loud crack ring through the stillness of the day. She looked about her before darting worriedly behind a tree nearby. Her breathing ragged and her ears straining for any sound.
Meanwhile…
***** Future *****
“CARINA STOP THAT!” Ordered her best friend as the Potter girl clicked her fingers, a small flame appearing. Carina loved experimenting with her powers. Being a full elemental was fun. They made her feel special baring mind she was the only one with inhuman powers at the school. She glanced over at Justin Lupin her other best friend and then back to the cauldron bubbling before them. “Oh lay off Maria.” She spoke to the Malfoy boy. Those three were the newest golden trio. Carina Potter, Maria Malfoy and Will Lupin were inseparable and had been since they stepped through Hogwart’s front gates seven years previously. Others envied them but they seemed totally oblivious to it.
Carina’s mind drifted. It often did that though it never really stayed on one subject. But that day it was her father. I wonder what he was like? Wish he’d lived long enough to leave me at least one memory. All I’ve got is memories. For Carina’s father Harry Potter had died the night he destroyed Lord Voldemort forever. Leaving Gabrielle Delacour (Carina’s mother) impregnated and without a father for her child. That was why Carina was now Carina Krum instead of Potter. For Gabrielle had married Viktor Krum upon Harry’s death claiming she needed help raising little Carina.
While she had been dwelling on this she didn’t realise her potion had become a particularly strange colour and appeared to be cracking in two. She stared blankly and looked over at Lupin. “Hey! What’s happening?” She asked. After all Lupin was the brains of the three of them. He stared into the potion but then it exploded. The entire school was flooded from top to bottom, as the liquid seemed to multiply. Everyone felt like they were drowning. But then it happened. A crack shattered through the school and all students (not professors) felt a tug at their belly button. Almost like a port key. They were hurtled through flashing scenes that no one recognised before they came tumbling out in front of the black lake…
Meanwhile…
***** Past *****
Lily Evans shoved James Potter backwards against a wall and held up a warning finger up at him. “You are the Head Boy! You are meant to be setting a good example. Not setting off stink bombs that turn people orange!” She shrieked but he simply watched her with a smirk. He loved her threatening him it meant she actually had to be near him. She dropped her finger and stepped backwards much to his disappointment. Lily stormed off her flame hair billowing behind her. Her thin and fragile figure shaking with fury all directed at Potter. What she needed at that moment was some kind of relaxing vocation… brewing some sort of Potion.
Knowing very well that Slughorn would allow her use of the potion lab she entered without much trouble and began to set out her ingredients. She felt a slight twinge in her head almost as if she knew something was not right but she swatted it away. She was probably just so wound up.
When she was nearly finished with the sobering potion she glanced up and noticed Remus Lupin wondering around outside. Remus was the nicest member of the marauders and always would be in her opinion. She called out her voice cutting through the silence like a knife. “Hey Remus! What are you doing down here?”
“What? Oh hi Lily!” He spoke glancing at the pretty red head. “Oh nothing really… just taking a walk.”
“Come in here… I want you to help me with something.” She smiled at him and he shrugged heading into the room and stood at her shoulder glancing into the potion. Then he knocked something. It went flying into the potion and the liquid suddenly became a luminous green. Lily stared at it and then at Remus. “What’s happened?”
“I don’t know.” His face had become even paler as he took a step backwards grasping her hand to tug her as well. Then the voice rang out. “So this is why you’d never go out with me?” Lily and Remus spun around to face a very angry James. Lupin looked at him with calm eyes. “James come on… do you really think I’d do that to you?” But James looked like a raging bull. He stormed into the room fully and slammed the door behind him. He’s sort of cure angry. The traitorous thought ran through Lily’s mind as she watched him but brushed it away. James took a few steps towards them and almost threw a punch at his friend. But it was stopped when they were all immersed in green liquid. All students felt like they were gagging then they felt a tingle run all the way through their bodies. The next time they dared to open their eyes they were lying beside the black lake. James with his arms clasped around Lily and all the other students staring blankly around. This was not their Hogwarts…
***** Present *****
Gabrielle emerged from behind the tree and viewed the two large groups of student that had just appeared. Her crystal blue orbs fell open as she recognised some of them. There was Lily Evans, Harry’s mother and James Potter, Harry’s father. And there was a younger Remus Lupin and a very handsome Sirius Black.
Her eyes grew wider as she spotted the other group. One girl in particular caught her attention. She had jet-black hair, very fair skin and emerald eyes the exact same shade as Harry’s. Her beauty bore the obvious signs of veela blood and Gabrielle could visibly see her own nose on the girl’s face. She ran a hand through her white gold hair and continued to gape. This mysterious girl looked exactly like Harry apart from the fact she was female and immensely beautiful. Gabrielle ran towards the two groups and stuttered. “Hello?” She asked.
James was the first to speak up. “Who are you?”
“My name is Gabrielle Delacour… I am a student here.” She watched for a reaction and she got one. The girl that Gabby had been looking at looked over at her in disbelief and a word formed on her lips. But she made no sound. “Mum?” Her lips read but she blinked and continued to remain silent. James still had not let go of Lily’s waist and made no sign that he was going to so she nestled in to make herself more comfortable. “Oh you two must be James and Lily Potter?” Spoke Gabrielle and James’ light hazel eyes grew in happiness. “Lily Potter?” He asked looking down at the red haired beauty in his arms. “Yeah you two got married? Any of this ringing a bell?”
“No it certainly isn’t.” Said Lily finally finding her voice. “I am never going to marry him… never ever.”
“But then Harry won’t be born…” Said Gabby confusedly.
“Harry?” Asked Lily.
“You’re son?”
“My Dad?” Asked Carina as she broke apart from the crowd of students and took a step forward. Gabrielle looked over at her with a smile. “So I was right Harry is your Dad?” Carina was about to correct her by saying ‘was’ but Will elbowed her in the ribs to shut her up and then threw a protective arm around her shoulders. Things got more and more complicated as Gabby tried to explain without letting too much more slip from her tongue. In the end she simply led the two groups into the castle and straight to the new Headmistress. She was shocked and almost fainted when she saw them but soon recuperated and did her best to settle the situation. She now had a lot of children from the future and children from the past in the present day. The only thing to do was to allow them to stay until they found a way back to their own time periods.
So now all the different groups live under one Hogwarts roof trying to make sense of all that was going on. People will find their futures. People will discover their past and decisions will be made… now they’ve all been forced to Meet In The Middle
